Post jetting 180 24e carb
hey guys, thanks for the info so far on my Rally 180 carb upgrade.

i decided to get the 24/24e carb since it fits so much easier. but now im on to getting the jetting right.

the carb came with the stock setup for a P200. but I am running an otherwise stock Rally 180 engine.

the 55/160 idle jet is too rich and I am wondering if anyone has done this before or knows a good starting point.

thanks

The stock jets for a Rally 200 are 50 idle, 160 corrector, BE3 mixer, 116 main. Start there. What's the pipe? Have you done any porting or other mods?

the carb does not have the idle hole, its blocked. the idle jet has the hole.

i already have 160 corrector, BE3 mixer, 116 main in the carb.

the idle is the one im having trouble with. I was hoping somebody has done this before. its a bone stock rally 180 engine. stock pipe as well. this is my first upgrade. i hope to use a SIP road and P200 top end some day. unless I get a good P2 engine for cheap down the road.

stock idle on a R180 was 50 (same with a R200, and also GS160...) Next generally available size up is the 55.160, so it looks like you might need to try a 50/120

might be other sizes made, but they werent used on stock Vespas so many shops might not have sizes between 50/120 and 55/160...

actually its like this, so I have been told

45/140 = 3.11 < Leaner
55/160 = 2.91 < Richer

Jet sizes
45/160 =3.56
36/120=3.33
42/140 =3.33
48/160 =3.33
50/160 =3.20
38/120 =3.16
45/140 =3.11
40/120 =3.00
55/160 =2.91
50/140 =2.80
52/140 =2.69
45/120 =2.67
50/120 =2.40
50/100 =2.00
55/100 =1.82

so 50/120 is actually richer, not leaner.
